Sampling Methods | Research Prospect

The sampling method is used to: Gather data from a large group of population. Counter check on data collection. Speed up tabulation and publication of results. Increase the efficiency of the research. Conduct experimental research. Obtain data for researches on population census.

CLASSICAL METHODS OF ORE RESERVE ESTIMATION

To determine the extent of the deposit, triangles are developed such that sampling points form the apices of the triangles. The volume and tonnage of the deposit is then determined using simple geometrical equations. 1. Area = Area of Resulting Triange. 2. Volume = Area x Average depth of the apice drillholes.

4 MONITORING AND SAMPLING STRATEGIES

There are three main stages in preparing a sampling strategy for a given fishery: a) which vessels are sampled in the fleet;. b) which events on the vessels are sampled; and. c) what catch is sampled from a fishing event.. The aim of either complete monitoring or sampling is usually to derive a fishery statistic from raw data, e.g. catch per unit effort.

Mine Sampling | SpringerLink

Abstract. The sampling of metalliferous and industrial mineral deposits is undertaken for a variety of reasons and at various stages in their evaluation and exploitation. During the exploration phase, the sampling is largely confined to the analysis of drill cuttings, or cores, and is aimed at the evaluation of individual, often well spaced ...

METHODS OF ORE RESERVE ESTIMATION_EXAMPLE

The two primary concerns confronted are summarized as: 1. Extent (Size) Determination and. 2. Value Determination. Value and extent of a mineral deposit can be estimated using classical methods or geostatistical methods. The simple yet accurate ore reserve estimation technique used is classical methods. Classical methods employ simple geometric ...

Sampling practice and theory - Mine Engineer

Sampling is defined as taking a small portion of a whole mass that accurately represents the whole mass. Very simple to define, however obtaining a representative sample is anything but simple. Mathematicians will say sampling is expressible as a series of mathematical equations. Such as, for sampling "X" pounds of material, one would take "y ...

SAMPLING TECHNIQUES INTRODUCTION

(3) Selects the sample, [Salant, p58] and decide on a sampling technique, and; (4) Makes an inference about the population. [Raj, p4] All these four steps are interwoven and cannot be considered isolated from one another. Simple random sampling, systematic sampling, stratified sampling fall into the category of simple sampling techniques.
